A beach inside a suitcase graphic

With summer officially here for most students, parents are planning their summer trips, but beware of review sites. Last week we highlighted unusual review sites but this week I want to talk about Oyster.com in particular. Oyster is such a great website here at Nerds we wish that they could expand. The fact that they have their own independent reviews really cuts out any suspicion that you may have regarding the amenities at a particular hotel.

In the news recently there has been quite a bit of coverage on hotels that are posting false images or reviews in order to entice you to book there. This is fairly common practice anymore, especially with most families tightening their vacation budget and trying to get the most for their money. Have you ever booked a hotel thinking that you were getting a great deal only to show up and the room was less than adequate? So when you are booking your hotel make sure that the website has independent pictures and reviews if at all possible, and don’t think that just because it’s a well known resort that you are safe. The larger resorts are often the biggest offenders.
