So if you type in your credit card number, or your name and address, hackers can capture this and use it to do things online while posing as you. This isn’t generally the best of situations to be caught in. According to the Department of Justice about six million people per year in the U.S. alone fall prey to some sort of identity theft scam, whether internet-related or other.
