Nerds on Call Computer Repair Services - Solid State Drive Upgrade
Why Upgrade To An SSD?
SSDs offer significantly faster data transfer speeds compared to traditional hard disk drives. Quicker boot times, faster app loading, and improved overall system responsiveness.
SSDs typically have a longer lifespan than a traditional (spinning) hard drive since they don’t have moving parts that are susceptible to mechanical failures.
SSDs are noiseless (no moving parts), run cooler (no noisy fan needed to keep it cool), and are significantly smaller than traditional hard drives. Lighter laptop for the win!
It’s time for a better hard drive.
If your hard drive is working, why bother upgrading?
Just like we live with lots of things that could be better, many people live with traditional spinning hard drives that take forever to boot up, put their data at risk (because they’re more prone to failure), and cause their system to run hot and slow.
One of the questions we get asked more than any other: how can I get my computer to work faster?
Answer: swap to an SSD (Solid State Drive).
Have us replace your traditional hard drive with an SSD and you’ll get:
- A lightweight, reliable 500 GB SSD Drive
- Mounting Hardware (required for desktop computers)
- Backup of your files and data
- Drive Installation
- Transfer a full image of your hard disk onto your new drive so you don’t lose any of your files or data
- 30 days of our Service Plan coverage at no additional charge
Upgrading the hard drive in your PC or laptop to a Solid State Drive (SSD) can make your computer more reliable, faster, and frankly, more fun to use.
Here are some reasons why upgrading to an SSD is a great choice:
Faster start up & performance: Tired of waiting 5-7 minutes for your computer to load up when you turn it on? SSDs are remarkably faster than traditional spinning hard disks, in many cases shaving minutes off boot up time. Launching programs and overall system responsiveness is faster too. “My computer runs fast enough as is…” said no one, ever.
Do more without slowing or crashing: SSDs are able to access data more quickly, allowing you to better “multitask” (run multiple programs simultaneously). Switching between surfing the net, updating your accounting software, reading a new email, and pulling up your favorite song clip won’t overload your system and cause slowed responsiveness once you’ve upgraded to an SSD.
Quicker data transfer: With an SSD, copying and transferring files becomes much faster. Large files and data can be moved or copied in significantly less time, so you can get on with the rest of your day.
Less likely to fail or break: Unlike traditional hard disk drives that have a spinning disk and moving reader/arm, SSDs have no moving parts. This makes them more resistant to physical shocks, vibrations, and drops – meaning lower risk of data loss due to mechanical failure.
Energy efficiency: SSDs use less power than HDDs, which can mean longer battery life for laptops. Who doesn’t want to get more computing time out of their laptop? Desktop computers equipped with SSDs can enjoy energy savings over time.
Quieter Performance: As SSDs do not have spinning disks or moving parts, they operate silently. Since they run cool, you’ll also enjoy less fan noise since your computer’s fan won;t have to kick on as often (at least related to heat from your hard drive).
Compact and lightweight: SSDs are smaller and lighter than traditional HDDs, making them ideal for portable devices like laptops or compact desktop builds. Who doesn’t want a lighter system?
Longer lifespan: Since SSDs have no moving parts, they’re less likely to break due to mechanical failure. This means they tend to last longer than traditional hard disks, allowing you to rely on them to safeguard your files & data longer. Anyone who’s lost important files to a hard drive failure can tell you that drive reliability is less expensive than data recovery.
Overall, upgrading to an SSD will significantly improve your system’s performance and speed, enhance durability and reliability, and provide other benefits such as energy efficiency and noise reduction. It’s a great way to give your PC or laptop a noticeable boost in performance and responsiveness.

Dylan is the man. I built a custom PC and when I finally started it up, I got BSOD. I was stuck in a restart loop and was pretty scared I’d wasted money on the build. Dylan was able to diagnose and correct the issue within a day! Because of the flat rate, I didn’t have to worry about hourly costs. In addition to fixing the main issue, he was able to install extra hard drives I had laying around and correct fan wiring within the case (even suggested more optimal cooling). Nerds on Call does a complete and thorough job and Dylan is an excellent representative for their company. He’s earned repeat business from me and I trust him to help me down the road. Thank you
